Sophisticated Tokoname Yaki
Made by Seihoh Tsukiji at Seihoh Kiln
This Kyusu gives the impression of a spring breeze with butterflies and cherry blossom petals. You will certainly feel that the room and atmosphere around this Kyusu are calm, relaxed, and leisurely.
The pattern and form are gentle and elegant. Butterflies and cherry blossom petals are stamped by a technique called MISHIMA. Before shaped clay is dried, patterns are marked by stamp stick with pigments for the color cherry blossoms petals. The butterfly is created by careful hollowing out at the handle. On the side, a pattern portraying the spring breeze is decorated by a traditional technique called NUNOME. The pattern is created by impressing fabric onto the clay.
The top form of the body is opened widely toward the outside; this shape is very rare. The handle of the lid is shaped subtle and delicately. The shoulder to bottom on side of body is carved quite gracefully. All of these aspects create a well-balanced harmony.
This Kyusu brings a beautiful and unique atmosphere, as would be expected from an artist of this caliber with steady techniques and enormous effort. This Kyusu is his bestseller which has sold well for more than 5 years, though the price is not so low. Of course, to consider the effort and technique on this Kyusu, this price is absolutely reasonable. If you are searching for a teapot of exceptional first-class quality, this would certainly be ideal.
CHOH to SAKURA Kyusu brings a relaxed and elegant atmosphere as if you were to breathe in a fresh spring breeze in a field of cherry blossom trees in springtime.
