(Would you like Iced Tea? If so, This item is also suitable for Iced Houjicha. You can see "Iced Tea Recipes" by clicking here.)
Houjicha, also called Bancha, is made by roasting fresh green tea leaves over high heat. It is a brown tea with a toasted nutty flavor.
Since Houjicha is pan-roasted, it is relatively low in caffeine. And it is said that Houjicha grown specifically in Ujitawara, where Hibiki-an is located, has a particularly delightful aroma, even when compared with other Houjicha grown in the Kyoto region of Japan. (For more information, click here.)
We use specially-designed nylon teabags that allow for quick brewing, so you can enjoy the rich flavour of Houjicha in no time! The individual teabags are much larger than standard paper teabags - over 2 x 2 inches in a unique pyramid shape.
The nylon fabric is biodegradable and compostable.
Of course, this item as well as other tea leaves items may be reused three times. Each infusion will have a unique flavor and aroma.
There are 28 bags in each packet of Teabag Houjicha.
If you are looking for a quick and easy way to enjoy low-caffeine green tea, this is the perfect tea for you! And we are certain that it is also perfect for taking along on a trip, to the office, and so on or introducing genuine Japanese tea to beginners.
