This is limited edition only available in spring and summer season.
This Matcha bowl is crafted in Kenzan Cho, where warm red clay and a soft white slip create a refined balance of elegance and rusticity. Kenzan Cho refers to the style of pottery associated with Ogata Kenzan, a ceramic artist of the Edo period, as well as the distinctive aesthetic of Kenzan Yaki that he established. It depicts a serene scene of a YAKATABUNE - a traditional Japanese pleasure boat - drifting beneath SHIDARE SAKURA - weeping cherry blossoms.
Mica-infused pigments add a subtle golden shimmer to the water, evoking gentle spring light. The composition reflects the tradition of viewing SAKURA from the water, a poetic expression of HANAMI. More than a vessel, this piece offers a glimpse into the harmony of nature and culture, bringing the spirit of HANAMI into the quiet moment of tea.
This Starter Set includes a Matcha Bowl (Matcha Chawan), Bamboo Whisk (Chasen) with 80 bristles, Whisk Keeper (Kusenaoshi), and Matcha Spoon (Chashaku). We chose SAKURA YAKATABUNE handcrafted Matcha Bowl for this Starter Set. It is the standard Matcha bowl size, so that it is also perfect for beginners. The Bamboo Whisk has 80 bristles, and therefore can make a very nice lather. The Whisk Keeper helps the Bamboo Whisk to last longer.
We recommend that you get the bamboo whisk wet just before you use it. The bamboo whisk is susceptible to dry conditions.
If you would like to add other important tea ware, we suggest our Matcha Sifter or Hand Sifter. It is useful though not essential. Sifting Matcha before preparation is an important step to avoid lumps and create a rich flavor.
With this set, you have everything essential to correctly prepare Matcha, so you can enjoy an authentic and flavorful bowl of Matcha!
(You may receive a pale green whisk keeper instead of the pale blue one shown in the photo)
