The green color of Matcha looks superb in our KAMAKURA Glass Matcha Bowl. It is perfect for the summer, to enjoy refreshingly cool iced Matcha. The flat, open and low height of this style of Matcha bowl quickly lowers the temperature of the Matcha. This Matcha bowl is ideal for the summer season, but may be used throughout the year, depending on your preference, to serve not only tea, but ice cream, snacks and other treats.

This Matcha bowl is crafted using the traditional spin-forming technique of EDO Glass. Molten glass is dropped into a rapidly rotating mold, where centrifugal force spreads it outward to form the vessel. This process creates a thin, evenly shaped bowl with gentle undulations and soft texture characteristic of handmade glass. Each piece is individually crafted by skilled artisans and is recognized as a designated Traditional Crafts of Tokyo.

The name KAMAKURA is inspired by Japanese igloos built in northern Japan. For over 450 years, these hollowed snow structures have been part of winter festivals in places such as Yokote, where people gather inside to pray for safety and good fortune. Though it is made of snow, the interior is surprisingly warm. This bowl draws its name from that same contrast: a softly frosted surface reminiscent of snow yet filled with the warmth of hand craftsmanship.

The thick glass and waved uneven surface fit perfectly in your hands. The size and flat form make this Matcha bowl easy to use. Since this is made from heat resistant glass, you are able to enjoy both iced tea and hot tea. Also, it is safe to use in the microwave.

This bowl can be used not only for serving Matcha, but for a wide variety of food and drink, such as ice cream and small snacks, and is perfect for everyday use or for special occasions. Depending on your preference, it is possible to use this bowl throughout the year.

The deep green color of Matcha creates a beautiful composition. Please enjoy the texture of the glass, which shows different expressions like the changing seasons. It will certainly add joy to your green moment.

Iwasawa Glass began manufacturing glass in 1917 in Koto Ward, Tokyo. Although operations were suspended during the war due to industry consolidation, the company resumed its craft in 1951 at its current location in Sumida Ward, Tokyo. As a kiln of EDO KIRIKO, officially designated as a Traditional Craft of Tokyo, Iwasawa Glass remains committed to handcrafted production. Centered around artisans certified by the Governor of Tokyo as Masters of Traditional Crafts, we continue to dedicate ourselves to preserving and advancing the art of handmade glass.
