Whisk Keeper - Matte Green (Kusenaoshi)

With repeated use, a Bamboo Whisk, or Chasen, will lose its curved shape because it is bamboo’s nature to remain straight. A Whisk Keeper is used to keep the Chasen in its original curved shape. It also prevents deterioration if you immerse the Chasen in warm water before using it. This softens the bamboo, making it less brittle, so there is less chance of breakage.

This Whisk Keeper is Mino ware (Mino-yaki), which is produced in the Mino region of central Japan. The history of Mino ware dates back over 1,300 years. Supported by its long history and tradition, Mino ware accounts for approximately 60% of Japan's total tableware production. It is safe to say that it represents Japanese ceramics. Mino-yaki has incorporated diverse techniques and designs in response to changing times and trends, which is rich in diversity in its design and texture.

This Kusenaoshi is shaped like a donut that perfectly fits the curve of a bamboo whisk. Its donut-like shape minimizes contact between the main body and the tea whisk, improving ventilation. Additionally, the back of it is hollow, so when you place it upside down, it allows you to let the whisk rest while preparing Matcha.

Unlike most Kusenaoshi, which feature a classic glossy glaze, this piece is coated in a matte green glaze, which contributes to its modern aesthetic and smooth texture.

We cherish quiet, serene atmospheres and the beauty found in stillness. This piece’s simplicity and modesty in its functionality and design surely advances your daily Matcha experience and becomes a beautiful part of your ritual that calms your mind’s rush.
