OKOSHI is a Japanese traditional rice cracker, which is made by mixing puffed rice (or other grains) with a sugar syrup and then pressing it into molds. We selected two flavors, Matcha AZUKI (red beans) and brown sugar walnuts, in order for you to enjoy a fusion of historical Japanese snacks with a taste that is modern yet traditional.
OKOSHI has been enjoyed in Japan since the 1600s. The snack originated in the Heian Period (794 to 1185), and it was served as an offering to the Gods.
The manufacturer, AWASHIN, mixed glazed puffed rice with Matcha powder and AZUKI (red beans). Matcha powder works as a bridge to create a smooth connection between the sweetness of sugar and the earthy flavor of AZUKI beans. You will enjoy the crunchy OKOSHI and soft texture of AZUKI beans together.
The brown sugar walnut flavor features puffed rice glazed with brown sugar, mixed with crushed walnuts. The distinctive sweetness of brown sugar with the bitter undertone perfectly matches the rich, deep nuttiness of walnuts.
