This FUROSHIKI, made of high-quality cotton, is 18.89 inches (48cm) square. The design is KOHSHU KAJIKAZAWA, which is one of the most famous paintings drawn by the artist, Hokusai Katsushika (1760 - 1849). It is said that Hokusai is the most famous UKIYOE Japanese woodblock print artist and influenced the impressionist painters such as Vincent van Gogh. His design is very popular not only in Japan but also well-loved around the world.

Wrapping Instruction

There are many traditional wrapping methods. We introduce the most useful 4 or 5 methods. Please find below reference pictures on the left side photo gallery.

A: This is simple wrapping method called HIRA wrapping, meaning "flat" in Japanese.
B: The most basic wrapping methods are called OTSUKAI wrapping and KAKUSHI wrapping, which are respectively called "gift" and "hiding" in Japanese. These methods are suitable for wrapping square boxes. KAKUSHI wrapping is hiding the knot.
C: This method is useful to wrap spindly items like a small bottle or our 100g tea package. This is called BIN wrapping, meaning "bottle."
D: This method is useful to wrap round items or a few small items together, such as our snacks and candy. This is called SUIKA wrapping, meaning "watermelon."

Direction

To prevent loss of color, we recommend dry-cleaning or hand-washing by water NOT washing by detergent if stained.
