KATAKUCHI Matcha Bowl is a Matcha bowl with a pour spout. Kata means one side and Kuchi means spout. Thus, a bowl with a spout on only one side is called KATAKUCHI.
KATAKUCHI can be used to whisk Matcha for several people at the same time and pour it into different cups. When making a Matcha latte, it is convenient to pour the Matcha into the milk after it has been whisked in this bowl.
The bottom of the bowl is rounded, which makes it easy to whisk even a large amount of Matcha. It has a gently curved shape from the bottom to the top for easy pouring. And because it is lightweight, it is easy to hold even when pouring a large amount of Matcha. These calculated forms are created by artisans who carefully handcraft each item, one by one.
SUMI means Japanese calligraphy ink (sumi ink), and IRO means color in Japanese. Within a deep, near-jet black hue, subtle gradations and depth created by firing overlap, giving it a rich expression despite being monochromatic.
The soft sheen that quietly emerges each time it catches the light possesses a delicacy reminiscent of ink's natural bleed. This deep hue accentuates the vivid green of Matcha, creating a beautiful contrast between bowl and tea.
The gentle color of the unglazed footring further sharpens the jet black body, creating a refined contrast.
Combined with its elegant form, it exudes a dignified grace and serene presence.
The outstanding craftsmanship and beautiful design of the KATAKUCHI Matcha Bowl will make you want to display it in your home. The interplay between modern design and WABI-SABI colors creates a unique charm in which novelty and nostalgia coexist.
