If you love Japanese tea, you may be familiar with Shincha. In Japan, we have the tradition of celebrating Shincha, the first tea harvest of the year. Only once a year can you enjoy Shincha's refreshing aroma and smooth, mellow flavor immediately after the harvest. (For more information about Shincha, please check What is Shincha?, Shincha News Flash!)
Saemidori breed has a naturally unique, sweet and smooth taste, similar to yet quite different from Gyokuro. It is an early-ripening breed that can be harvested a week earlier in the Shincha harvest season. Therefore Saemidori is appreciated as a new breed that is expected to be grown on many farms across Japan in the future.
As above, Saemidori's early-ripening enables us to start the harvest earlier. Shincha is one of life's great pleasures, for those who love green tea and have expectantly waited many months for the Shincha harvest. And to bring out this special sweet and smooth taste, we steam the tea leaves slightly more heavily to make finished Fukamushi Sencha.
Saemidori breed brings us pleasure in the springtime, to consider the unique flavor and early-ripening. Enjoy the sweet and smooth taste unique to this tea, as well as the fresh aroma of sprouts available only at this harvest season, just once a year.
