KATAKUCHI Matcha Bowl is a Matcha bowl with a pour spout. Kata means one side and Kuchi means spout. Thus, a bowl with a spout on only one side is called KATAKUCHI.

KATAKUCHI can be used to whisk Matcha for several people at the same time and pour it into different cups. When making a Matcha latte, it is convenient to pour the Matcha into the milk after it has been whisked in this bowl.

The bottom of the bowl is rounded, which makes it easy to whisk even a large amount of Matcha. It has a gently curved shape from the bottom to the top for easy pouring. And because it is lightweight, it is easy to hold even when pouring a large amount of Matcha. These calculated forms are created by artisans who carefully handcraft each item, one by one.

SABI means rust, and AO means blue in Japanese. SABI AO is a shade of AO, a blue tinged with melancholy. The SABI in its name suggests an artful patina that lends AO subtle complexity, defining it as a grayish blue that feels ancient and tranquil. The unique, grayish blue of this color is created using a black glaze called TEMOKU YU. This glaze contains a rich amount of iron, giving this bowl a unique beauty.

Shigaraki is one of the six major old Japanese kilns.
Begun in 743 A.D., the Shigaraki kiln has produced traditional Japanese pottery for more than 1250 years, and holds the distinction of being the oldest kiln in Japan.
Shigaraki, located near Kyoto, was once the capital of Japan. The soil was found to be rich in clay that was suitable for pottery. Because of the location and the abundance of clay, Shigaraki prospered due to the pottery production. Shigaraki ware is characterized by its natural, simplistic style and grace of the combination of the clay and feldspar. The style and taste of Shigaraki ware depends on the combination of the glaze (Yuyaku), the clay, and the firing temperature of the kiln.

- It is best to wash this item using only tepid water or mild chlorine-free dish washing detergent.
- After use, please dry thoroughly. Otherwise, it could possibly get moldy.
- If necessary, you may occasionally use a chlorine detergent.
- Do not sterilize by boiling, or in a dish washing machine.
