Handcrafted Teacup: 210ml (7.39fl oz) each, diameter: 3.15inches (8cm) height: 3.15inches (8cm) Traditional Kyo Yaki (Kyoto Style)
Made by Shohoh Itoh at Shohoh Kiln

KOHCHI FUJIKESHIKI Yunomi is made using the traditional technique of KOHCHI. KOHCHI, which is highly valued in the tea ceremony, is a rare firing method that produces vivid colors using the same ingredients as colored glass. The surface is smooth and glossy like stained glass, which is the greatest feature of the KOHCHI technique.

Furthermore, this unique three-dimensional pattern is created using an advanced technique called ICCHIN, which is one of the traditional Japanese decorative techniques for ceramics. ICCHIN is the process of carefully squeezing clay into lines to create patterns on the surface of the vessel.

The patterns drawn using these techniques are Mt. FUJI and UNKIN. Mt. Fuji is the most iconic symbol of Japan and has been revered as an object of faith by people since ancient times. Mt. FUJI has inspired numerous works of art and is alive in various cultures and customs in Japan and around the world. This teacup is beautifully painted with Mt. FUJI and UNKIN (SAKURA and MOMIJI). UNKIN expresses SAKURA in full bloom as white clouds, and MOMIJI as gorgeous woven fabric.

We are honored to offer KOHCHI FUJIKESHIKI Yunomi, which exudes beauty and refined elegance with its luster and transparency, and features a very rare and exclusive three-dimensional technique. This unique design can be used in any season. Use it throughout the year as a vessel that symbolizes the beautiful change of the seasons.
