Our Sea Salt MOCHI is a traditional confection made of MOCHI rice cake and AN red bean jam, which has been popular among many people in Japan for a long time. It is not too sweet but slightly sweet. SIO salt brings out the subtle sweetness of AN bean jam and it pairs wonderfully with the MOCHI rice cake. The texture is sticky and moist and melts in your mouth!

This confection is known as DAIFUKU in Japan. DAIFUKU has a long history and it is said that the origin dates back to the Edo Period (around 18th century). It is thought that DAIFUKU was one of the most precious confections since sugar was a luxury at that time. DAIFUKU also means “great luck” in Japanese. Therefore, this is a very auspicious sweet and is often given as a gift for ceremonial occasions.

Our SIO DAIFUKU pairs very well with all kinds of Japanese tea and it has also been traditionally served at tea ceremony. We are sure that you will be satisfied with this traditional DAIFUKU!
