This Matcha bowl is refined and elaborate work. Beautiful and lively HANA SHOHBU flower iris, which is colored white and deep blue, are carefully and boldly drawn on the surface of this bowl. The light green leaves accentuate the vigor of the HANA SHOHBU and the Matcha bowl. All flowers and leaves colored in gold add elegance and luxury to this Matcha bowl. The gentle and refined white surface and small stream behind HANA SHOHBU also emphasize the sensation of coolness and the refreshing impression.
The name HANA SHOHBU originated from SHOHBU acorus calamus since the leaves of HANA SHOHBU are similar to SHOHBU acorus calamus, a wetland grass also known as sweet flag. SHOHBU has played an important role from ancient times in Japan. It has been believed that the unique aroma of SHOHBU can dispel evil spirits. In addition, it is also regarded as a symbol of the fortunes of war in the age of warrior rule since SHOHBU also means battle in Japanese.
The flowers of SHOHBU bloom in May in Japan. The SHOHBU was traditionally seen as especially auspicious for men. The shape of the leaves is similar to the Japanese sword, so they were used on May 5th, the day of the Boy’s Festival in ancient times. The flowers were used to decorate the eaves of the house, and iris leaves were used in the bath to promote physical and mental strength.
The technique called GOHONDE, colorful lines of orange, is seen on the inside and outside of this bowl. It is impossible to fully control the contrasting density of GOHONDE, so that GOHONDE is a little different in each work. The contrast between bright and brilliant HANA SHOHBU and the subtle white background of this bowl emphasizes the beauty of this bowl and graceful and gorgeous atmosphere.
The base of this Matcha bowl is carefully and elaborately scraped away, which is proof of the highest grade Matcha bowl.
This lovely HANA SHOHBU iris and gold Matcha bowl is sure to bring elegance and grace to your green moment.
