At first glance this Yunomi teacup may appear simple and plain, but it takes much time and effort to create. The ancient landscape is drawn in blue glaze inside the cup. The thin and lightweight porcelain enhances the good flavor of the tea. Only white and blue colors are used on this cup, which match beautifully with each other and with the green tea, and this collaboration creates a cool atmosphere.

UCHI means inside, ZOME means dyeing, and SANSUI means landscape in Japanese. SANSUI landscape is decorated inside the cup with the use of blue glaze. Even skilled artisans have difficulty painting inside the teacup, but each piece, such as mountain, woods, house and so on, is decorated with a refined touch. Adding to that difficulty, the shading technique is used only in one single color. This technique not only creates the colorful image, but also provides the appearance of depth.

The teacup is elaborately scraped away, and the scraped lines create varying shades of glazing colors. Only the white glaze color is used, but evenly scraped lines, which fit into the hands comfortably, create a graceful atmosphere. It is very difficult to scrape the vertical lines into the thin porcelain, and a highly skilled technique is required for this process.

Color is also one of the focal points of this piece. The landscape inside the teacup and the horizontal lines inside and outside the base are decorated with blue glaze. The color is well reflected on the white glaze porcelain, making the landscape design more vivid. Brown glaze color on the teacup rim adds warmth and visual interest to the landscape, and also to the white glaze color.

This Yunomi is very thin and lightweight, which is one of the requirements of excellent quality Japanese porcelain. Painting the landscape inside the teacup is also one of the high skills, and each design is quite elaborate. Each color of blue, white and brown glaze is well reflected on the tea cup, and helps to create a relaxed green moment. We are certain that this Yunomi teacup will enrich the taste of green tea.
