This teacup expresses the graceful scenery of Japan, through the expert use of color to create atmosphere. The pink and white colors of the SAKURA cherry blossoms create the soft and tender feelings of spring. Maple leaves turn red, suggesting the season of autumn. Birds are sitting on the branches, as though they are celebrating the coming of each season. The golden color of the leaves and clouds also accents each teacup, and complements the white glaze.
IRODORI means color combination, and KACHOH means flowers and birds. Gracefully colored flowers brightly and elegantly cover the outside teacup, and birds sitting on the branch welcome the coming of each colorful season.

MOMIJI means autumn red leaves in Japanese. The contrast of maple leaves in both strong and light red colors, suggests that the maple leaves are in full bloom. Adding to that, subtle gradations in red color suggests that the autumn foliage season reaches its peak. The use of golden clouds makes this teacup bright and luxurious. Birds with feathers painted light green and blue wait anxiously for the coming of autumn, and create the warm atmosphere.

Linear patterns are modestly carved in S-shaped curves from the base to the rim on the side. It was created by a skilled technique requiring the artisan to painstakingly carve away everything except this elevated area. During the process, the Yunomi starts out quite thick and is carved to thin. It is deliberate work requiring much time, effort and mature technique.

Traditional waffle pattern called KOHSHI GARA on the inside rim and outside base is also elegantly and carefully painted in zaffer glaze according to traditional methods of highest grade Kyo Yaki porcelain. Each line is decorated by hand, and highly elaborate and delicate patterns are extremely beautiful.

These teacups describe the season of Japan with a delicate touch, gentle decoration, and high level technique very well. Noble and gentle aroma of Japanese season floats inside the teacup, and takes you to the elegance of Japan once you sip your green tea.
