Review My wife purchased this and gave it to me as a gift(yea, at my suggestion). It is an elegant chawan that is a great contrast to several "wabi-sabi" chawan that I usually use for tea. That contrast is very good for conversation during tea.
All of the catalog description is very accurate. I particularly like the way the gold highlights add to the feeling of a sunny, crisp and peaceful morning after a big snowfall. The additional branches on the inside of the chawan really add dimension to design. I find that the shape of the bowl is comfortable in my hands.
Two additional things about the chawan that aren't described but are great features. The chawan can "breath" because the foot was not covered with glaze. Lastly, there is a swirl, not just an indentation, in the bottom of the bowl. This swirl is a great "parting gift" when you are finishing a bowl of tea.
I think the price is very reasonable for a chawan that has so much work and talent put into it. But, that is my take on it...
