(Kyo-Yaki)
Kyoto was the capital of Japan for a long time. Therefore outstanding technology and sophisticated art was traditionally accumulated in Kyoto. It is said that the feature of Kyo-Yaki (Kyoto style ceramic art) is more skillful and artistic than any other style.
One of the features is an excellent woodturning technique which enables the artist to make thin and beautiful finished ceramic art. Kyo-Yaki teacups are well-known for being the most thin and beautiful of Japanese teacups. To enjoy different kinds of excellent Japanese tea, it is better for the teacup to be thin and to be white color on the inside. Tea in a thin ceramic teacup is known to have a better flavor, and the green color of tea looks especially lovely against a white background. Also against a white background, you can appreciate the different colors of Sencha and Gyokuro.
