Review Gyokuro Premium by Hibiki-an was my first venture into gyokuro. Before this, I only drank Sencha. First impressions was that it smelled very strongly of seaweed, right out of the packaging.

During the tasting, the first thing I smelled was the seaweed, followed by green tea. I closed my eyes and it felt like I was transported to a lush meadow with a vast expanse with woods beyond the horizon, on a warm morning.

The color of the tea was a jade color, and the taste was packed with umami and green tea, and yet the aftertaste was light and left me wanting more. Funnily, there was no bitter aftertaste even after brewing it the 3rd time with boiling water.

I'd hesitate to give it 5 stars, because I simply do not know what 5 stars would taste like. But it definitely makes an excellent cup of tea.
