MANTEN Kyusu (Teapot: 350ml) Reviews

Review For the price, the build quality is surprisingly good. The kyusu itself is very versatile.

It's big enough to serve 1-3 people (depending on teacup size), and any leftover tea can simply be decant into a yuzamashi. The hemispherical shape tends to bring out vegetal flavours in Japanese greens. The glazed porcelain means that many teas can be brewed in it, without any carry over smell. There's also no need to worry about staining, since dish detergent can be used with glazed porcelain, without any harm. The built-in debeso filter performs well, especially at this price point.

The only thing that I would change on this kyusu is making the handle properly hollow, rather than closing off the end. When washing, you need to be careful about water ingress entering through the blow-hole at the bottom of the handle (i.e. don't purposefully fill the hole with water or soak the kyusu in water), since this will take quite some time to drain.
