The size of this Chataku is medium to large, a little bit larger than average. So, this saucer fits both small and large size Yunomi (tea cup). In Japan, vermilion lacquer is considered to be a traditionally celestial and pure color. It is said that vermilion lacquer widely matches with any Yunomi (color, design, form, and so on).

The top face is decorated with a traditional technique called NUNOME. The pattern is created by impressing fabric. The back face is KIKKOH pattern, which is an auspicious omen motif of turtle shell.
