FUROSHIKI Gift KATAKUCHI Set - CHIRIMEN NAMIURA pattern

FUROSHIKI Gift KATAKUCHI Set includes Matcha Superior, KATAKUCHI Matcha Bowl, Bamboo Whisk, Matcha Spoon, and Hand Sifter. It is the perfect gift for anyone who wants to start enjoying Matcha. They are carefully wrapped with FUROSHIKI Japanese traditional wrapping fabric.

The FUROSHIKI wrapping fabric is of course reusable and perfect for wrapping anything from a gift to a Bento lunch box. It can also be used as a decorative wall hanging, tablecloth, scarf, and so on. It depends on your idea. The FUROSHIKI, made of high-quality rayon crepe, known as CHIRIMEN, is 27.56 inches (70cm) square.

CHIRIMEN is a traditional Japanese crepe fabric known for its softly textured surface. First produced in Japan in the late 16th century, its fine crimping helps resist wrinkles, allowing the fabric to retain its beauty, even after extended use.
This FUROSHIKI is crafted in Kyotango, a region in northern Kyoto celebrated for its rich natural surroundings and long-standing tradition of making TANGO CHIRIMEN, one of Japan’s most renowned types of crepe fabric. The elegant texture is created by tightly twisting the weft threads during weaving, giving the fabric its signature ripples and a deep, refined luster when dyed.

This FUROSHIKI features one of the quintessential and well-loved works by Hokusai Katsushika (1760 - 1849). This image is remarkable because Mt. Fuji, which should essentially be grandly and exquisitely painted, is painted small at the middle of the painting, and the great waves and ships rocked by the billowing sea are painted dynamically and vividly. The contrast between the waves and the silence of Mt. Fuji, and the contrast brought by perspective, create much visual interest. This FUROSHIKI can be enjoyed not only as a tapestry or framed artwork, but also as a wrapping cloth for your daily lunch box, a book cover, or for elegant gift wrapping.

We recommend that you get the bamboo whisk wet just before you use it. The bamboo whisk is susceptible to dry conditions.

This is the perfect gift set for anyone looking to whisk Matcha for several people at the same time, or for those who enjoy making matcha lattes.

(Please note that each KATAKUCHI Matcha Bowl is unique due to the techniques employed by the artisan. There are natural variations in each piece.)

KATAKUCHI Matcha Bowl
- It is best to wash this item using only tepid water or mild chlorine-free dish washing detergent.
- After use, please dry thoroughly. Otherwise, it could possibly get moldy.
- If necessary, you may occasionally use a chlorine detergent.
- Do not sterilize by boiling, or in a dish washing machine.

Bamboo Whisk
The bamboo whisk is susceptible to dry conditions.
- Wet the tip of the bamboo bristles with water before each use, prior to whisking. It prevents breakage during whisking because water makes the bamboo bristles more flexible and strong.
- The handle can also develop a thin hairline crack due to dry conditions. It is not uncommon for bamboo to crack in dry conditions; this is simply a natural characteristic of bamboo. Even if the handle develops a thin hairline crack, it should not affect the usability. We recommend you continue to use the whisk as long as it is usable. If your region is extremely dry and you would like to avoid the handle cracking, we recommend that you wet the entire whisk, both handle and bristles, frequently and before each use.
- Bamboo bristle tips are strongly curled before use. The tips will usually uncurl after the first or second use; this is quite normal and expected.
