The FUROSHIKI wrapping fabric is suitable to wrap tea or snacks / candy purchased on our website for gift. It is of course reusable and perfect for wrapping anything from a gift to a Bento lunch box. FUROSHIKI is very useful fabric which had traditionally been used for wrapping since ancient times until modern times in Japan. It was not only useful but also special because wrapping anything was thought to remove negative vibes. Even today special gifts are wrapped by FUROSHIKI.

SETSUGETSUKA means snow, moon, and flowers, symbolizing the beauty to be enjoyed in each of the four seasons. WAN refers to a soup bowl. Each motif on the bowls carries an auspicious meaning: the chrysanthemum symbolizes longevity, the hollyhock represents good relationships or marriage ties, and the bamboo signifies growth and resilience. This design features lacquered bowls adorned with auspicious motifs in gold and silver. Made from a thin, lightweight fabric, it can be used as a hair accessory or scarf.

Wrapping Instruction

There are many traditional wrapping methods. We introduce the most useful 4 or 5 methods. Please find below reference pictures on the left side photo gallery.

A: This is simple wrapping method called HIRA wrapping, meaning "flat" in Japanese.
B: The most basic wrapping methods are called OTSUKAI wrapping and KAKUSHI wrapping, which are respectively called "gift" and "hiding" in Japanese. These methods are suitable for wrapping square boxes. KAKUSHI wrapping is hiding the knot.
C: This method is useful to wrap spindly items like a small bottle or our 100g tea package. This is called BIN wrapping, meaning "bottle."
D: The "SHIZUKU Bag" features a charming droplet shape and is simple to make. Its wide opening makes it easy to put things in and take them out, and its versatile design suits any contents you carry.
