This is limited edition only available in spring and summer season.

Handcrafted Teacup: 180ml (6.09fl oz), diameter: 2.76inches (7cm) height: 3.35inches (8.5cm)
Traditional Kyo Yaki (Kyoto Style)
Made by Yoshinobu Kawashima in Kawashima Kiln

This teacup combines two different designs. One is the floral pattern that is elaborately molded and shaped by hand, piece by piece. The other is a KARAKUSA pattern that is carved and scored by hand.

The floral pattern is created using a technique called MISHIMA. Before the molded clay is allowed to dry, the artisan creates patterns of flowers and other motifs using traditional wooden stamps. The patterns on this Yunomi are carefully stamped one by one and then the color is applied. This is one of the traditional techniques of Kyo Yaki.

The section that is pale blue in color features a KARAKUSA pattern. The outlines of the flowers and stems are carved by hand, and then the color is applied. In addition to the beautiful blue gradation, the red and green dots are lovely accents.

The transition between these two patterns is delineated by a vertical line in gold which adds a luxurious touch to this Yunomi. The gradated blue arabesques stand out against the white background and give the whole piece a sense of movement.

The pink color inside the teacup is created by a traditional technique called GOHONDE, which is brought by reduction in the kiln. This requires expert temperature control in the kiln. The inside of the tea ware features linear marks made by brush. This traditional technique is called HAKEME.

To consider the quality of this work, it is quite a reasonable price. Each floral pattern is elaborately stamped and shaped. This teacup will not only enhance the taste of green tea, but also enrich your green tea moment.
