Sophisticated Earthenware
Made by Kakou Komatsu at Fuki kiln.
As its name implies, SAKURA HAIYU Yunomi is a very unique teacup featuring a glaze made from the ashes of burnt cherry blossom branches. The pale pink color that appears on the surface of the teacup also evokes the pale pink color of cherry blossom petals, and draws the heart of the person who holds this teacup into a fantastic world.
SAKURA HAIYU Yunomi, which is made using the ROKURO wheel, has an uneven surface that brings an inexplicable feeling of comfort, allowing you to enjoy the teacup not only visually but through the sense of touch.
The KOHDAI base of the teacup is formed in the shape of a cherry blossom petal motif, which shows the artisan's meticulous playfulness. The cute shape of the cherry blossom on the KOHDAI can be appreciated as a special gift from the artisan. The inside of the teacup is also carved with several cherry blossom petals, making it possible to enjoy cherry blossoms from both angles. Just tasting green tea with this teacup will make you feel the fresh breeze of spring.
SAKURA HAIYU Yunomi is an original work by Mr. Kakou Komatsu. He moved to the Hanase area in the mountains of Kyoto more than 30 years ago and created the FUKI kiln. Mr. Komatsu's works, which were created in this deep mountainous and nature-rich village, allow the viewer to feel the atmosphere of the deep forest, as well as Mr. Komatsu's excellent pottery techniques.
This Yunomi is unique because its glaze is made from cherry blossom tree ash, but also due to the fact that it is accented by Mr. Komatsu's expert design skills, creating such unique and one-of-a-kind tea ware. It is based on Mr. Komatsu's traditional pottery techniques that he has cultivated over many years.
Feel the heart of Japanese culture with this SAKURA HAIYU Yunomi and its base that exemplifies the WABI-SABI aesthetic. We are sure that adding this SAKURA HAIYU Yunomi teacup to your collection of tea ware will add a further dimension to your green moments.
