Sophisticated Kyo-Yaki (Kyoto Style)
Made by Yohtaroh Takemura at Dainichi Kiln
This Yunomi has the unique avant-garde aura of a young, emerging talent, together with traditions succeeded from Dainichi Kiln. Several types of glazes create a wonderful harmony on the surface of the Yunomi. The harmony of these glazes will captivate the heart of anyone who holds this teacup in their hands. It is truly a fascinating Yunomi teacup that is incomparable to others.
YUAI refers to the pale contrasting blue, white and green tones of the glaze, which is the most important feature of this teacup. Several glazes with different tones are applied in layers, using the artisan's expertise to the fullest. The colors of the layered glazes are in perfect harmony.
The most notable feature of this YUAI teacup is the pale light blue color called GOSU. This GOSU blue is a color expression technique that has been handed down from generation to generation in Japanese tea ceremony ware. The color of GOSU, a pale light blue glaze that flows from the mouth of the teacup brings a noble atmosphere.
The GOSU blue, and the uneven tones of white and green throughout, give this teacup a harmonious and captivating appearance. The addition of the light green color of high quality tea to the teacup gives the user a sense of dignity and satisfaction.
Though the artisan, Yohtaroh Takemura just started to work under his father in 2010, he has already won several awards. So, this Yunomi is not only well-designed but also vigorous. It is the work of an emerging young talent, full of potential. To consider the value of this work, the price is quite reasonable. We expect that this young artisan will have great success in the future, and the value of his early work will increase further.
