Round SAKURA cherry blossoms are called YAEZAKURA or double-flowered cherry blossoms. These special cherry blossoms usually bloom later than the common SAKURA. Each flower is dynamically decorated with pale pinkish white color, which reminds us of the height of spring. SAKURA cherry blossoms are not only a well-loved symbol of spring but are also the national flower of Japan and one of the most important flowers for the Japanese people. We, Hibiki-an have collaborated with Zenshoh Yamaoka, who is the leading expert of paintings derived from masterpieces in the middle ages and acclaimed Kyo Yaki artisan, to offer you this YAEZAKURA Matcha bowl.

Zenshoh Yamaoka painted YAEZAKURA in full bloom on this bowl, inspired by RINPA. RINPA is one of the major historical schools of Japanese painting, which flourished in the 17th century in Kyoto. "RIN" means the beautiful beads, and "PA" means school, so all works in RINPA are focusing on colorful and elegant expression. RINPA is also known as one of the arts which express more unique Japanese sensitivity in Japanese modern art.

The pale pinkish white cherry blossom flowers adorn the outside and inside of the Matcha bowl, creating a charming scene. It looks almost as though you can touch the flowers of YAEZAKURA. The flowers are edged in gold, which adds to the noble atmosphere. The contrast of gold and dark green color of the leaves accents the bowl, and harmonizes all the colors.

Zenshoh Yamaoka carefully painted each cherry blossoms one by one. The YAEZAKURA double-flowered cherry blossoms are intentionally painted thickly using special paint, while the branches and leaves are thinly painted. By doing this, Zenshoh brings balance and movement to this Matcha bowl. It seems that the YAEZAKURA cherry blossoms naturally grow from the bowl.

This Matcha bowl was inspired by SENMEN HARITSUKE BYOHBU by Sekka Kamisaka (1866 - 1942), who was born in Kyoto and was an artist and designer in recent and modern times. His paintings feature a bold composition and layout. This Matcha bowl was also inspired by YAEZAKURA惻ITOZAKURA NI TANZAKU ZU by Houitsu Sakai (1761 - 1828), who was part of the third generation of RINPA. Zenshoh Yamaoka fused these paintings to create this lovely Matcha bowl.

The use of golden color also has a deep effect. Gold is often used in Japanese traditional folding screens to evoke distinction and nobility. The use of golden clouds in the background and the rim framed in gold makes this Matcha bowl bright and elegant.

YAEZAKURA in full bloom are charmingly portrayed on this Matcha bowl, which evokes the Japanese scenery of spring. We are certain that this Matcha bowl will add joy to your green tea moment. Your time spent with the YAEZAKURA Matcha bowl will be pure bliss.
