Your eyes will immediately be drawn to the attractive crystal glaze of this Matcha Bowl. The purple color, which has been regarded as a color only for court nobles in Japan, is brilliant.

MURASAKI SHIKIBU of this name is the name of the female storywriter who wrote GENJI MONOGATARI in 1008. MURASAKI also means purple in Japanese. The name MURASAKI SHIKIBU brings a noble atmosphere.

This brilliant purple color crystal glaze is very rare. It is difficult to make the glaze colored like this brilliant purple and to create crystal pattern with poise. It requires delicate temperature management in the kiln and sensitive composition of glaze. The crystal pattern is a little different in each work.

The form is one of the most traditional shapes called WAN NARI. The base is carefully scraped away. Natural clay color appears at the base. The contrast of the reddish dark brown color of the natural clay and brilliant purple color of the crystal glaze are quite exquisite.

We are so happy that we can provide this noble Matcha Bowl at a reasonable price. Would you enjoy Matcha served in this MURASAKI SHIKIBU Matcha Chawan?
