NURI Chashaku - TSUBO TSUBO (handcrafted)

Measure the correct amount of Matcha every time with this traditional natural bamboo measuring spoon, known in Japan as CHASHAKU.

What makes this piece truly exceptional is the red lacquered back. By coating only the underside, the natural, unadorned bamboo on the front and the rich red lacquer behind seamlessly complement each other, highlighting their distinct textures. The finish utilizes a specialized transparent red lacquer, allowing the raw pattern of the bamboo to shine through.

The TSUBO TSUBO pattern painted in gold is a traditional Japanese motif resembling small, round jars arranged side by side or slightly overlapping. Associated with good fortune and frequently seen in the Japanese tea ceremony, it is also famous as the secondary crest (Kaemon) of the three Senke tea schools (Omotesenke, Urasenke, and Mushakojisenke).

Holding this Chashaku reveals an intriguing contrast in textures. The lacquered back offers a warm, subtle tackiness that comfortably secures your grip, while the raw front retains the smooth, dry feel of natural bamboo. This thoughtful duality, a harmony of form and function rarely found outside of traditional Japanese craft, instantly elevates your Matcha collection.

2 Chashaku of Matcha = 1.5 to 2 g.
For Usucha, thin tea, use 2 Chashaku of Matcha. For Koicha, thick tea, use 3 to 4.

Made in Japan.
