WA SAKURA Yunomi is a sophisticated, yet warm and comforting piece. It features a relaxing blue color on the background and a SAKURA tree with falling petals, using the skillful technique called ICCHIN. The SAKURA patterns employ soft pink and purple colors that encourage you to feel the gentle breeze of spring in Japan.

The unique textured edge is created with the technique called ICCHIN, which is one of the traditional Japanese decorative techniques for ceramics. ICCHIN is the process of carefully squeezing clay into lines to create patterns on the surface of the vessel. For this piece, the artist begins by glazing the entire cup in blue, applying ICCHIN to detail patterns, then layers soft pinks and purples to finish the blossoms. This method allows the translucent colors to merge gently with the background, creating a serene, peaceful depth. The petals appear to sway lightly, as if feeling the gentle spring breeze.

Another key element of its quality is the cup’s beautifully rounded form, which fits comfortably in your hand and offers a distinctive touch created through the ICCHIN technique. The bottom part shows the unglazed ceramic clay, lending the piece a timeless, classical character. Inside the cup, the glaze is intentionally applied more thinly, subtly revealing the natural hue of the base clay. The unified color palette creates a charming ambiance that complements the cup’s sophisticated, classic aesthetic. This piece would naturally settle into your days, becoming a beautiful and tranquil part of your green moment.
