| Review | I am really enjoying this year's shincha gyokuro. It has a slightly higher astringency than typical gyokuro, which makes it very refreshing. This year, I have also enjoyed blending this shincha gyokuro with shincha fukamashi sencha, using a very short steep (like regular fukamashi) and a slightly lower temperature than I normally use with fukamashi. I have found that this yields a unique and refreshing blend. Shincha gyokuro is, I believe, a rather new offering in shincha teas, not a tea that is traditionally offered in the shincha harvest, and I am enjoying blending it with other teas, in a non-traditional way. Especially in the summer, this shincha gyokuro offers a cooler, refreshing tea, on its own or blended. I imagine shincha lovers would enjoy trying it, too. |
