Review I have been drinking Matcha Super Premium from Hibiki-An for a year now and think it to be unsurpassed. Unsurpassed that is except for Shincha Matcha. Every Shincha product I have tried this year has made me openly exclaim "wow!" and this is no exception. For those who may normally be turned off by matcha because of its bitterness need not worry. I actually think this to be a good starting point to the joys of matcha. As described, Shincha Matcha is surprisingly mellow and smooth with an amazing two tier taste. The first, is the initial amazing freshness of what only a Shincha can provide. The taste of spring is truly evident with a hint of bitterness that matcha is known for. Sometimes, I actually look forward more to its after taste. A wonderful sense of......dare I say.....sweetness envelops my tastebuds and the inner walls of my mouth which is what probably makes me exclaim "wow" because you just can't get that with any other matcha. I always make it a practice to not eat anything with Hibiki-an teas as so I can get its full flavor profiles but I must say that with Shincha Matcha this goes quite well with a traditional Japanese sweet, like a namagashi or some other sort of wagashi. Although I have not tried any, I am also thinking some chocolates would also fair well. So for those who may be turned off with matchas in general, I think there is much you can do here that would certainly keep your interest. However, to get its true unique essence, like all Hibiki-an teas this would be best appreciated alone. I am extremely happy and have every intent of ordering more before it runs out. This is truly special.
