This Matcha bowl evokes the soft and gentle atmosphere of a beautiful Japanese autumn. MOMIJI Japanese maple leaves are painted with light and warm pastel colors. The warm colored texture of the bowl adds to the subtle softness. ICCHIN MORI, one of the traditional techniques, in which the artist places a fine border of clay around each design, creates a unique atmosphere. You can feel the warmth and a nip of autumn from this bowl.
MOMIJI means autumn red leaves in Japanese. They are a well-loved symbol of autumn, like the SAKURA national flower of Japan is a symbol of spring. The refined beauty of MOMIJI is well expressed on this Matcha bowl. Each pastel color is very soft and gentle, and the color gradation is quite delicate and beautiful.
The contrast of maple leaves in both deep and light colors, suggests that the maple leaves are in full bloom. Adding to that, subtle gradation in pastel colors evokes that the autumn foliage season reaches its peak.
Some patterns of MOMIJI Japanese maple are edged, placing a fine border of clay around some leaves. This technique is called ICCHIN MORI in Japanese. This technique gives a three-dimensional appearance to the bowl, and makes us feel as though we can touch the real MOMIJI leaves.
Colorful patches of orange are called GOHONDE, a traditional technique that adds warmth to the atmosphere of the work. It is impossible to fully control the contrasting density of GOHONDE, so that GOHONDE is a little different in each work.
The gradation pastel colored MOMIJI and GOHONDE techniques create a soft and warm atmosphere and also evoke the nip of gentle fall in Japan. The atmosphere of this bowl surrounds your Matcha green tea in a subtle softness.
