This Yunomi is created by the traditional technique known as KOHCHI. KOHCHI technique, much-prized in tea ceremony, is to edge each pattern, placing a fine border of clay around each design. This limits the flowing of glaze or pigment and allows the artisan to create a graceful, vivid pattern. There is no brush unevenness and the surface is smooth and glossy like stained glass, which is the most desirable characteristic of the KOHCHI technique.

Moreover, FUKU means fortune, so FUKUROH denotes bliss or good luck. In addition, FUKUROH owl is said to be the god of wisdom and a symbol of economic fortune since ancient times. It is a sincere wish that happiness may come to you.
