A teapot with the "Heart Sutra" inscribed in very small letters. Whenever I use it, I am reminded that "Cha-Zen Ichima" -- (Tea and Zen are One). It's a cool fall evening at present, so I am on my second Shinkyoh Kyusu full of evening tea here in Missouri, USA. As I drink it I celebrate the final lines of the inscribed Heart (Prajnaparamita-Hridaya) Sutra ... in Indo-Aryan Sanskrit: "gate, gate, paragate, parasamgate. Bodhi svaha! " (Gone, gone, gone beyond, gone altogether beyond...to the other shore. Oh enlightenment! Hail!).
Do I like this teapot? I delight in it for preparing my tea, and for putting me in a receptive, appreciative and contemplative state-of-mind.
