This teacup expresses the graceful scenery of Japan, through the expert use of color to create atmosphere. The pink and yellow colors of the UME plum create the soft and tender feelings of spring. Golden and green color of bamboo leaves suggest the season of spring. Birds are sitting on the branches, as though they are celebrating the coming of the new season. The golden color of clouds also accents the teacup, and complements the white glaze. Continuous spiral patterns inside the rim add accent to the teacup.

IRODORI means color combination, and KACHOH means flowers and birds. Gracefully colored flowers brightly and elegantly cover the outside teacup, and birds sitting on the branch welcome the coming of the colorful season.

UME means plum flower in Japanese, and plum flowers are painted with a delicate and tender touch. The soft color of the pink petals and yellow buds creates its elegance, and the golden color of bamboo leaves and black branches stretching upward not only increases its noble atmosphere but also evokes gracefulness. The use of golden clouds makes this teacup bright and luxurious. UGUISU warbler bird with green feathers waits anxiously for the coming of spring, and creates the warm atmosphere.
Linear patterns are modestly carved in S-shaped curves from the base to the rim on the side. It was created by a skilled technique requiring the artisan to painstakingly carve away everything except this elevated area. During the process, the Yunomi starts out quite thick and is carved to thin. It is deliberate work requiring much time, effort and mature technique.

Traditional waffle pattern called KOHSHI GARA on the inside rim and outside base is also elegantly and carefully painted in zaffer glaze according to traditional methods of highest grade Kyo Yaki porcelain. Each line is decorated by hand, and highly elaborate and delicate patterns are extremely beautiful.

These teacups describe the season of Japan with a delicate touch, gentle decoration, and high level technique very well. Noble and gentle aroma of Japanese season floats inside the teacup, and takes you to the elegance of Japan once you sip your green tea.
