Mr. Tohan Dobuchi was born in 1980 and is the fourth Tohan. The first Tohan Dobuchi opened Tohan Kiln in 1922. The current Tohan Dobuchi succeeded the fourth in 2011. Tohan Kiln’s unique works, sustained by high level pottery and drawing techniques and various original elegant color glazes in over three hundred colors, are highly appreciated and viewed with awe.

HANA SOROE means that the flowers are all arranged in Japanese. There are twelve teacups in this series, which is the most popular advanced line at Tohan Kiln. This Yunomi has a unique shape. We call this Yunomi's shape 'Tama-Yunomi'. 'Tama' means 'ball' in Japanese. You may think this Yunomi is not easy to use to drink green tea, but once you try this Yunomi, you'll know it is really quite comfortable, pleasant and lovely to hold in your hands.

BOTAN means peony flower in Japanese, which is one of the well-loved flowers in ancient Japan. Tohan gorgeously expresses the elegant scene of BOTAN peony flower. Each petal is painted elegantly, vividly, and intrepidly.
SHARA means stewartia flower in Japanese, also known as the summer camellia. The pure white summer camellia with lush green leaves elegantly blooms on the teacup. The yellow color of the stamen in the center is well reflected on the white petals.

The use of golden color also contributes to the elegance of both cups. The detailed description of the stamen and contours of the flower petals makes them even more brilliant.
Both inside and outside white color is also finished with brush lines, which create the WABI SABI atmosphere. A little rough clay modestly adds accent.

The above factors create a graceful and sophisticated aura, and an elegant and high-grade tea cup.

Both tea cups fit your hands comfortably, and you can see how elegant they are. Please enjoy drinking genuine Japanese green tea with these tea cups which enrich your tea time.

Tohan Dobuchi

Mr. Tohan Dobuchi was born in 1980 and is the fourth Tohan. The first Tohan Dobuchi opened Tohan Kiln in 1922. The current Tohan Dobuchi succeeded the fourth in 2011. Tohan Kiln's unique works, sustained by high level pottery and drawing techniques and various original elegant glazes in over three hundred colors, are highly appreciated and viewed with awe.
The third Tohan's art was full of creative energy, as he was naturally inquisitive and enjoyed exploring new techniques and designs every day. He studied glaze in Germany, so his works stood out from other Kyo Yaki. In the works of Tohan, they are incorporated with designs of flowering grasses that are found in nature. The third Tohan developed Tohan’s original world of glaze, color and design.
The fourth Tohan has been developing new styles like HANA KESSHO crystal glaze lines. And these days, Tohan Kiln also creates beautiful lamps, tables and other interior designs. Works receive a high evaluation from not only those within the field of ceramics but also from interior designers and furniture designers in Japan and around the world.
