This mug is coated with dynamic and charming colors of glaze. Crimson color glaze is decorated inside and outside the mug, over which the white color glaze casually flows. The combination between the two colors of glazing and the attractive and functional form creates a noble and graceful aura.

SHIKOH means purple and red color, and YU means glaze in Japanese. Graceful and noble glaze color covers the mug. White color glaze is also used inside and outside the mug, and its casual flow creates a profound atmosphere.

Entire side of the mug is elaborately scraped away, and the scraped lines create shades of glazing colors. Adding to that, the white color glaze outside the cup flows along the curved line. The effect of the curved design not only adds an accent to the shape of the mug but also creates the strong and light colors of the glazing pattern.
A vine is twined around the mug handle, and its shape accents the cup. The expression of botanical atmosphere by pottery is very interesting, and takes more time and effort.

This multi-cup is coated with dynamic and charming color of glaze. Purple color glaze is decorated inside and outside the multi-cup, over which the white color glaze casually flows. The combination between the two colors of glazing and the attractive and functional form creates a noble and graceful aura.

The plump and round shape of the teacup attracts our attention. The multi-cup rim is flared, middle of side is a little full, and bottom is tucked. The curve from the rim to base is beautiful. The shape of the rim also helps to enhance the flavor of green tea. This shape not only adds an accent but also helps one to easily hold the Yunomi.
Two horizontally scraped lines outside the teacup also add and create a unique impression. White color glaze is dripped along the lines, and the offhand flow of the glazing creates the WABI SABI atmosphere.

As above, unique glaze and attractive and functional form creates the noble and elegant atmosphere. It is also possible to use this mug and multi-cup not only for green tea but also for serving smoothies, coffee and so on. It completely depends on you, how much these cups can broaden your green moment—you are limited only by your imagination!

Ichiro Asai

Ichiro Asai was born in Kyoto in 1955. He worked and learned Kyo-Yaki style under Tanzan Kotouge, especially his traditional method of making pottery. He also received guidance of glazing technique in Kyoto. He opened his own kiln in 1983, and creates his unique teaware items based on his knowledge, techniques, and experiences which he cultivated. His prominent technique can be seen from the use of various kinds of ash glazes, and his own unique atmosphere of handcraft-shaping creates a sense of warmth in his teaware items.
